alone or connected to the grid PV systems and plants, in europe and
africa. Solar electricity generator simulation and solar radiations maps
PVgis is the ideal free online tool to estimate the solar
electricity production of a photovoltaic (PV) system.
It gives the annual output power of solar photovoltaic panels.
As a photovoltaic Geographical Information System it proposes a
googlemap application that makes it easy to use.
The area covered by the calculator is Europe and Africa.
This application calculates the monthly and yearly potential
electricity generation E [kWh] of a Photovoltaic system with defined
modules tilt and orientation.
Note that PVgis is only available online, in english, italian, french, spanish and

solar energy generation for a
stand-alone PV system (right-top menu). This is useful to get a good
assesment of the energy power required to match your electrical needs in
remote area not connected to the grid.
After chosing your place on the map you have to enter :
consumption file :
- Nominal power
of the PV system : Peak power of your photovoltaic panels
- Battery size :
voltage and capacity
cutoff limit (%) : minimal % level of discharge
of your battery
- Enter daily
electricity consumption : consumption of your electrical
appliances during a whole day
the uploaded file should
consist of 24 hourly values, each on its own line, with the sum of the
numbers equal to 1.

slope of your solar panels
Orientation of modules :
(azimut or direction) of your solar panels
Then you will get graphs and tables that show the (estimated) daily
amount of electric power you can expect in each month from a Solar Home
PV system with the properties you entered (using optimal inclination,
if you requested so). It also shows the yearly average production per
day and gives statistics data such as the number of days corresponding
to a state of charge or discharge of battery.
